Amelan

Patchy overpigmentation (hyperpigmentation), particularly of the face is called melasma. It can be a terribly disfiguring problem for some women and men and can occur in any skin type, but those with naturally darker skins are particularly prone to develop this problem.

It can be caused by sun exposure, trauma, inflammation in the skin and sometimes hormonal changes, which is why it can sometimes appear in women during pregnancy, when it is called cholasma. Unfortunately, the overpigmented patches can be uneven, large, unsightly and very prominent, and once they have developed they can be permanent unless effective treatment is offered.

Most treatments that are offered are not very effective and often, nothing more than a thick camouflage or concealer cream is suggested as treatment.

Fortunately, there is now ONE extremely effective medical treatment for this problem that will return the skin to its natural even colour and complexion within a very short space of time. It is called Amelan and was developed by Dr Eduardo Krulig, an eminent plastic surgeon.

The Amelan treatment begins with a mask, or face pack, applied at our clinic. An individual wears the mask home for several hours, and then washes it off. During the following days a moisturizing cream is then used on the facial skin.

There are minimal side effects (only slight redness and flaking) and there is a regulation of sebaceous secretion resulting in reduction of any excessive oiliness and improvement of any acne problems.

The skin becomes clear, bright, rejuvenated and free from abnormal pigmentation, usually in just 10 to 14 days.

Sun avoidance and applying creams with sun protective factors is obligatory for at least a month following Amelan peel.
